News Death Notice

SANDERS, Donna Marie Departed this life on Saturday, November 10, 2012 after a sudden illness. Her departure was peaceful, surrounded by family and loved ones, friends and neighbors. Her career included work at Gentile Air Force Station, Fels Research Institute, Morris Bean Company, CityWide Development Corporation of Montgomery County, Miami Valley AFL-CIO, The Victory Theater in Dayton, Ohio, and the Montgomery County Treasurer's Office. She was a co-founder of the Center Stage Theatrical Company in Yellow Springs. She performed as the Virgin Mary for many years in the annual Christmas play held at the Yellow Springs Presbyterian Church. She served on the Yellow Springs Community Council and the League of Women Voters of Greene County. Donna also volunteered at the Yellow Springs Senior Center and Friends Care Center, also of Yellow Springs. She was preceded in death by her mother Marie Beverly Sanders and her stepfather Chet Sanders, and her sister Revilla Sanders of Dayton and ex-husbands George Harshaw of Pasadena, California and Vaudrey L. Just hours before her departure, she expressed her gratitude to all who knew in her life. She said that her life had been good and that she was blessed and regretted only that she didn't have enough time to say thank you and I love you to all who touched her life. Her joy and laughter will be missed but our lives will be forever richer for the time we shared with her. Donna Sanders chose to donate her body to the Wright State University School of Medicine. A memorial celebration will be held on Tuesday, December 11, 2012. A location to be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Donna's name to The Yellow Springs Tree Committee and Friends Care Community of Yellow Springs, Ohio.
