News Death Notice

BOWLING, William J. of Oldsmar, FL age 81 died on Sunday December 9, 2012. Bill was born on March 17, 1931 in Covington, KY and later relocated to Dayton, OH with his parents and brother. Bill was a graduate of Stivers High School, Dayton and the University of Dayton, and was employed as a Mechanical Engineer. While in Dayton, he played trombone in the Kettering Civic Band and the Dayton Letter Carriers Band. He and his wife relocated from Dayton to Oldsmar, FL in 1990, and attended Calvary Baptist Church where they were members of the church orchestra for many years. Bill was a member of the Clearwater Community Band and Stage Band, and the Dunedin Concert Band in Florida. Bill served in the U.S. Army from 1952-1954 during the Occupation of Germany. Predeceased by his parents George W. and Hassie L. Bowling, son Jeffrey Bowling and niece Jennifer Strausberg. He was the grandson of Dr. George W. Bowling, Sr. of Menifee County, KY. Survived by his wife Doris Bowling of Oldsmar; daughter Michelle Bowling of Carmel, CA; twin brother Robert Bowling and his wife Patsy of Nashville, TN; nephews Bradley Bowling, wife Shannon, and son Triston and daughter Dallas of Orlando, FL., Lance Bowling, Esq., wife Alicia, and daughters Morgan and Madeline of Houston, TX.; niece Rachel Strausberg of Mesa, AZ.; step-son Greg Marinelli, wife Kim and sons Jack, Pete, and Luke of Medina, OH; step-daughter Christine Ouellette and sons Ryan and Chase of Columbus, OH. Visitation will be from 11 am-12 noon Monday December 17, 2012 at the TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME-FAR HILLS CHAPEL 5471 Far Hills Ave at Rahn Rd. Funeral Service 12 noon Monday at the funeral home. Dr Chad Keck officiating. Interment Woodside Cemetery in Middletown, Ohio. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Clearwater Community Band or Dunedin Concert Band.
