News Death Notice
LAUTERBACH, Pamela Ann (Miller) of Dayton, Ohio passed away in King George, Virginia on Wednesday December 26, 2012. She was born in Dayton, Ohio on February 8, 1945; the loving daughter of Phyllis (McDermott) and John Miller. In 1963, Pam graduated from Julienne High School where she was active in athletics, excelled in the Forensics League, and cultivated her passion for the field of medicine. Upon graduation from the St. Elizabeth's School of Nursing in 1966, she became employed at St. Elizabeth's Hospital as an Emergency Room Charge Nurse and eventually leading the Labor and Delivery Department. In 1966, Pam married her high school sweetheart Thomas Lauterbach and went on to celebrate 46 years of marriage. After various moves to Buffalo, NY and Syracuse, NY, Pam returned to Dayton and the field of Geriatric Nursing. She retired as the Director of Nursing at Lincoln Park Manor in Kettering, Ohio. Pam was an active Eucharistic Minister, Marriage Encounter Leader, Civic Association founder, and Nursing Association Member. Most of all, Pam was a dedicated wife, amazing mother, and the best grandmother in the world. She always put the needs of her family before her own. Pam could often be found reading to her grandchildren, crafting/ sewing with her daughters, and beating her sons at cards. Pam was the Queen of the Crockpot, enjoyed traveling the world, and her Easter celebrations are legendary. She was an incredible force of nature that truly left this world a better place. Pam is survived by her children John, Brian (Heidi), Crissy, Kara Desmarais (Denis), her five granddaughters Erika, Gretchen, Juliette, Lilly, and Kiersten; her sisters Donna (Larry) Minnix, Jaqueline (Richard) Weber, Mary Jo (Mark) Meek; her brother-in-law Leo (Jane) Lauterbach, and sister-in-law Susan Lauterbach. She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas Gene Lauterbach, brother-in-law Ronald Lauterbach, and her parents Phyllis and John Miller. A memorial service will be held at Ascension Church in Kettering on Friday January 11, 2013 at 11:00 am with a reception immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation be made to the St. Elizabeth's Nurses' Alumni Scholarship Fund c/o Barbara Cogliano 194 Linden Drive, Centerville, Ohio 45459 in her memory.
