DAVIS, Mrs. Rosalie Wood age 94, of Dayton, born September 27, 1918 in Wedowee, Alabama, departed this life December 27, 2012. A member of the first graduating class of Paul Laurence Dunbar High School and attended Sinclair Community College, University of Dayton and Wright State University. She retired from Wright Patterson AFB after 32 years of service. A member of the National Assoc. of Parliamentarians. Active on several committees and boards of directors, including, 10 years with Big Brothers and Big Sisters, and the YWCA Board, as well as, Chairman of Admin. at the West Branch. She was past President of the National Council of Negro Women, 51 years with the Urban League Guild, Docent for 10 years at the National Afro-American Museum and Cultural Center, 10 years with Skyborne Toastmistress Club, member of Les Charms and Muses Bridge Clubs and a charter member of the Top Ladies of Distinction. She traveled around the world with travel mates, Winifred Lee, Laura Lansdown and Edith Johns. She joined Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in 1944 where she served as Secretary of Bethel Credit Union for 30 years, Secretary of Missionary Society and President of Sisterhood. Preceded in death by her parents, Mitchell Sr. and Edith Wood; husband, Sanford Davis, Sr.; son, Larry Eugene Davis; brothers, Major, Mitchell "Booty" and Walter Wood; sisters, Dorothy Walker and Oziel Taylor. She is survived by her son, Sanford Davis, Jr.; sister, Vernice Satterfield; extended family, Evita Gilbert Johnson and Michael Gilbert; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral service will be held 1 pm Friday, January 4, 2013 at Bethel Baptist Church, 401 S. Paul Laurence Dunbar Street. Rev. Dr. Charles Brown officiating. Interment Woodland Cemetery. Visitation 10 am Friday at the church until time of service. Family will receive friends one hour prior to service. Arrangements entrusted to the House of Wheat Funeral Home, Inc., 2107 N.
