Obituary Condolences

News Death Notice

DOUPLE, Gladys L. 86, passed away on Friday, January 11, 2013, at her home in Centerville. Born in McClure, PA, she was the consummate mother and homemaker. She was devoted to her family and cherished the roles of wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, sister, and aunt. She was an excellent cook, with desserts being her specialty. She loved sports and excelled at all that she attempted - bowling in her early years and golf later in life. Sewing was also a favored activity and she made treasured quilts as gifts for each of her children and grandchildren. She and her beloved husband raised their family in Fairborn. She worked for several years at the Fairborn Daily Herald newspaper. Upon retirement, she and her husband traveled the country in a motor home and spent time living in Arizona, before settling down in retirement in a golf community in Tennessee. After more than 20 years there, they moved back to Ohio to be closer to family. She had an unwavering faith in God and was a long time member of the church. She enjoyed Sunday School and lunch after services with her friends. She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years Stanley R. Douple; sons Greg (Lynn) of Fort Wayne, IN, Daryl (Holly) of Dayton, Bryan of Columbus; grandchildren Brittany (Andrew) Feiner, Jason (Theresa) Douple, Ryan Douple, Sean Douple(Katie), Kelly Douple; great-grandchildren Mark and Caroline Feiner, Hannah and Fiona Douple, and Penelope Douple. Memorial service at 10:00 AM Thursday, January 17, 2013 at Fairhaven Church, 637 Whipp Road, Centerville, Ohio with visitation from 9:00 to 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Noble Circle Project, P.O. Box 750192, Dayton, Ohio 45475 or Turnstone Center for Disabled Children and Adults, 3320 North Clinton St, Fort Wayne, IN 46805. Arrangements in care of Tobias Funeral Home - Far Hills Chapel.
