MAGOTEAUX, Sylvester "Si" 86, of Piqua, died at 4:30 am Saturday January 19, 2013 at his residence. He was born January 3, 1927 in Dayton to the late Hubert and Mercedes (Monnin) Magoteaux, Sr. He married Lois Jean Gilbert October 7, 1948 in Versailles; she preceded him in death October 8, 2003. Survivors include a daughter Judy (Tom) Smith of Englewood; three sons, Steve (Karen) Magoteaux of Piqua, Jeff Magoteaux of Columbus, Dale (Mary) Magoteaux of Cincinnati; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren; a daughter-in-law Robin Magoteaux of Greenville; a brother Hubert Magoteaux Jr. of Osgood; and four sisters, Mary Louise Holzapfel of Greenville, Jeanette Grilliot of Beavercreek, Suzanne (James) Wakefield of Danville, and Linda (Jerry) Stammen of Versailles. He was preceded in death by a son, Don Magoteaux, a brother, Lowell Magoteaux and two granddaughters. Mr. Magoteaux graduated high school and served in the United States Army as a Staff Sergeant during World War II. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and the Brookville V. F. W. Post. In addition to his family he enjoyed fishing and was a sports enthusiast. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am Thursday January 24, 2013 at St. Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Thomas L. Bolte as the Celebrant. Burial will follow at Royal Oak Memorial Gardens, Montgomery County. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 pm Wednesday at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home where a prayer service will be conducted at 7:00 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church, 528 Broadway, Piqua, OH 45356 or the Bethany Center, 339 South St., Piqua, OH 45356.
