News Death Notice

WRIGHT, Jr., Rev., Wallace McArthur went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 27, 2013. He was born on November 17, 1940 in Middletown, Ohio to the union of Rev. Wallace McArthur Wright, Sr. and Harriet Busby. After graduating from Roosevelt High School in 1958, Wallace served in the US Army for 9 years. Upon his return home from the military, he married Sylvia L. McGuire on July 5, 1968. From that union, two wonderful children were born. Wallace answered Lord's calling and provided spiritual leadership for many in several communities within Southwest Ohio for over 40 years as an AME pastor and pastoral assistant at Agape Bible Fellowship. He was actively involved in Amateur radio and volunteered his time in the local community. After 32 years of service, Wallace retired from Dayton Power and Light. Wallace was preceded in death by his father, Rev. Wallace M. Wright, Sr., his mother, Mrs. Harriet Graham, his stepfather, Mr. Clifford Graham, granddaughter, Assata Wright, and sister-in-law Eileen Moore. He leaves to cherish his memory, his devoted wife of over 43 years, Sylvia L. Wright, his two loving children, Saa K. Shemsu (Kai) and Khristina Marie Wright, his brother, John Wright (Margaret), three grandsons, Adefoluke, Ankhti, and Nen, nieces Lynita Johnson (Greg), Lynnette Easterling (David), Lynniece Richardson, and Rebecca Wright, nephews, Jason Woods, Jerry Woods, and Tony Wright, sister-in-law Joan Woods, brother-in-law, James McGuire, Jr. (Doreathea ), his uncle Arthur Busby (Marva), aunts Myrtle Edwards, and Ethel Powell, and a host of cousins, great nieces, nephews, and friends. Homegoing services will be held 11:00 A.M., MONDAY, February 4, 2013 at FAIRVIEW UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 828 W. Fairview Ave. Rev. Barbara Weichel, Pastor, with Pastor John Maze (Agape Bible Fellowship), officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service. Interment will be held 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at Dayton National Cemetery, 4100 W. Third St. The viewing will be held 4-6 P.M., Sunday, February 3, 2013 at the Church.
