News Death Notice

JACKSON, William J. age 80 of New Lebanon, OH, departed this life on Friday, February 15, 2013. He was born May 28, 1932 in Cohutta, GA to the late, Frank and Irene Jackson. Many knew him as "Bill". Bill was a Therapeutic Foster Parent for both Montgomery County Children's Services and SAFY for many years. He was also a Scout Master for Boy Scouts of America for many years. As a young man, Bill wrote songs and led a band that performed at local dances and clubs. He was an Army veteran and retired from Defense Electronic Supply. He is also preceded in death by his sons,, Darrell Jackson, Sr., Michael Addy and David Harrington; brother and sister-in-law, Frank (Elfrieda) Jackson, Jr.; sister and brothers-in-law, Ada (John) Clemmons and Grady Harris. He is survived by his siblings, Katherine Henderson of Dayton, OH and Anna Harris of Trotwood, OH; son, Kenneth Jackson of New Lebanon, OH; daughter, Sharon (Randal) Hawkins of Dayton, OH; son, Christopher (Sarah) Jackson of Polk City, FL.; (10) grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friendsd. Funeral service 11:00 A.M., SATURDAY, February 23, 2013 at LOWER MIAMI CHURCH OF THE BRETHREN, 5353 Germantown Pk., with Pastor Nan Erbaugh, officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service. Interment: Dayton National Cemetery.
