News Death Notice
MARTIN, Ingrid H., "Oma" age 76, of Beavercreek, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 12, 2013, with loving family and friends by her bedside. She was born January 10, 1937 in Schlüchtern, Germany. There she worked in the family's dairy business, playing a key role in its growth to become one of the largest privately-owned dairies in Europe. In 1964 she came to the United States for a short visit with her sister Helga, but decided to stay, and eventually become a citizen. Ingrid was affectionately called "Oma" by her students in the Little Folks Day Care Center-where she taught the Kindergartners German from 1987 until 2004. Ingrid was an avid hobbyist-enthusiastically enjoying such crafts as stained glass, macramé, cross stitch and haute cuisine. She was also a big fan of open-wheel racing and, especially, Mario Andretti. Ingrid was a generous person who so often placed the needs of others before her own, her many kind acts are too numerous to mention here. She was preceded in death by her parents Alfred and Anna Ziegler, brother Erich, and nephew Alfred. Ingrid is survived by her husband of 48 years, Edward; her daughter Erika (John) Swogger; two grandchildren Karen and Cheyenne; one brother Herbert Ziegler; two sisters Helga Daniels and Marlott Hederich; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 17, 2013 from 5:00pm until 8:00pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd. Funeral Service will be held Monday, March 18, 2013 at 10:00 am at the Woodland Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel, 118 Woodland Ave, Dayton, Ohio, with burial immediately following. If desired, donations may be made to the
in Ingrid's memory.
