James Aaron DALTON Obituary

News Death Notice

DALTON, James Aaron February 1, 1942 - January 22, 2013 "Almost a groundhog," James Aaron Dalton was born February 1, 1942, the son of Robert James Dalton and Mary Alice Stine. A Dayton native, he graduated from Belmont High School in 1960 and immediately thereafter embarked on a series of adventures. Called Jim by some and Jake by others, he filled many roles over his 70 years, including high school football player and baseball coach, dedicated scout leader, proud and supportive father of three and grandfather of four. He enjoyed traveling, camping, and watching Browns football, Reds baseball and Flyers basketball. His favorite dessert was German chocolate cake, but oatmeal cookies would do in a pinch. All things considered, Jim lived on his terms, for better or worse, and those of us who loved him for that are forever enriched by memories of his bristly beard, warm smile, jovial nature and genuine character. A reception for family and friends will be held on Sunday, April 14 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Moraine Civic Center, 3050 Kreitzer Rd., Dayton. For details call Julie at 917-859-6717.
