News Death Notice

CHRISTIAN, Verner R. age 89 of Miamisburg, passed away Sunday, April 7, 2013 at Wood Glen Nursing Center, West Carrollton. He was born May 4, 1923 in Haldeman, Kentucky to the late Herb and Mamie (Sturgill) Christian. In addition to his parents, Verner was preceded in death by his "Darling Wife", Mary Louise (Utterback) Christian in 2007; his 26 year old son, Timothy R. Christian in 1981; a sister, Marie (Fred) Gulley; brothers, Claudie Christian and Carl Christian and a brother-in-law, Alvin Gulley. He is survived by his daughter, Pam (Mike) Masters of Miamisburg; grandchildren, Michelle (Brian) Murphy, Tracy (Brian) Harris, Brent (Alison) Masters, Rusty (Amber) Masters; great grandchildren, Lauren (Don), Josh (Cortney), Katie, Jaryd, Grant, Brock, Braylen, Dennis, Zack, Addison and Ellen; a sister, Bernice Gulley of Morehead, KY, brothers, Ralph (Virginia) Christian of Lafollette, KY and Jimmy (Doris) Christian of Franklin, OH; sisters-in-law, Naomi Christian of Danville, KY and Kathryn Christian of Richmond, KY; twelve nieces and nephews and many other extended family and friends. Verner was a 1941 graduate of Morehead High School and worked many positions at General Motors from stock clerk to welder for over 30 years before his retirement. He and his wife then enjoyed their winters in Okeechobee, FL. Verner loved the outdoors; fishing, hunting and gardening in his spare time. He was also a member of the Miamisburg Christian Church where he practiced his faith. Family will receive friends from 10:00 -11:30 AM Friday, April 12, 2013 at Miamisburg Christian Church. Funeral services will begin at 11:30 AM Friday also at the church and officiated by Pastor Mike Tuttle. Burial will follow at Hillgrove Cemetery, Miamisburg. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton at 324 Wilmington Ave., Dayton, OH 45420.
