News Death Notice

HORVATH, Dallas F. 73, of Centerville passed away on April 4th at Walnut Creek Campus. Born in Sidney Ohio on August 29, 1939 he was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Nadine Horvath, his sisters Carol Jo Horvath and Rose Anne Barker. He is survived by his wife of 51 years Betty Watkins Horvath, and 2 daughters, Julie Lewis and her husband Rick of Lake In The Hills, Illinois and Jill Brickhouse of Miamisburg. There are three grandchildren, Mitchell and Jenna Lewis and Elaina Brickhouse and one great-grandson Vincent Brickhouse. A graduate of Sidney High School in 1958, he received a bachelor's degree in speech therapy from Bowling Green State University in 1963 and a master's degree from Wright State University in 1973. He worked for the Trotwood/Madison School District for 10 yrs. and the Montgomery County Board of Education for 20 yrs., supervising speech and language programs for a 5 county area. Dallas was past President of the Miami Valley Speech and Hearing Association and the Ohio Speech and Hearing Association. He helped found the Rose Estates Civic Association and served on the Centerville Planning Commission of several years. He was Chapter Advisor for Phi Kappa Psi Ohio Zeta Chapter at BGSU and helped found the Fraternity Chapter at the University of Dayton. Dallas was a recipient of the Martha Holden Jennings Foundation Award. Dallas donated his body to Wright State University. A celebration of life will be held at South Brook Christian Church at 9095 Washington Church Road at 11 a.m. on Saturday April 20th.
