News Death Notice

THOMPSON-ARNOLD, Ms. Dorothy Mae was the only child born March 2, 1913 to the late Selma Geneva (Mackissick) and Thomas Porter. She departed this life on Thursday, April 18, 2013 at Carriage Inn of Dayton. Dorothy received Christ at an early age, united with Bethel Baptist Church when she was a child and later worked with the Alter Guild of her church. Dorothy was employed by Orville Wright of the Wright Brothers where she did day work in his home. She also worked for the City of Dayton with the "Model City" project, at Good Samaritan Hospital in the nursery department and also with the State Board of Realtors. Dorothy enjoyed traveling and fishing. She also enjoyed laughter and fun with her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Jack Arnold Sr and Joseph Thompson; her children Jack Arnold Jr., Genevive Thompon and Frances Bickerstaff. Dorothy leaves to cherish her memory: her grandchildren; Michael (Debbie) Arnold, Bryan K. (Carol) Bickerstaff, Theodore (Michelle) Thompson, Terry Thompson, Cynthia (Shawn) Givens, Vicki (Al) Williams, Debbie (Kenny) O'Neal and Theodora (Bill) Smith and a host of great and great grandchildren; devoted nephews Danny (Katherine) Arnold and John (Bootsie) Arnold; special friends; Mrs. Margie Young and Mrs. Ellen Jackson; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral Services 11:00a.m., Thursday, April 25, 2013 at Bethel Baptist Church, 401 South Paul Laurence Dunbar Street, with Rev. Xavier Johnson, officiating and Rev. Dr. Charles Brown, eulogist.
