News Death Notice

PARRETT, Amster "Shorty" 98 long time resident of Morrow, died Thursday May 16, 2013 in Beavercreek, OH. Born to Willie and Melinda (nee: Stokes) Parrett in Pine Hill, KY on October 7, 1914. Shorty was a carpenter for United Brotherhood of Carpenters Local 104 for more then 40 years retiring in 1983. He was an active member at the Cornerstone Baptist Church in Dayton, a United States Army veteran, and Deacon for many years. Shorty was a huge REDS baseball fan. He is preceded in death by his wife in 1997 Edith (nee: Warner) Parrett, two brothers, and three sisters. Amster is survived by his one son, James U. Parrett of Centerville, two daughters, Hope Fickert (Rick) of Beavercreek and Cindy Williams (Alan) of Centerville, one sister, Lela Mae Sithers (Dutch) of Lexington, two grandchildren, Leah Parrett and Michael Parrett, two great -grandchildren, John Anthony Marshall and Jordan James Marshall, and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Monday May 20th from 11:00AM -1:00PM all at Vale-Hoskins Funeral Home, Morrow with a service immediately following. Interment will take place in Morrow Cemetery. The family would like to extend a special thanks to all the staff at Heartland of Beavercreek for their love and support. Arrangements were made by Vale-Hoskins Funeral Home, Morrow.
