MARTZ, Robert Age 89, of Kettering, was taken home by our Lord on Tuesday, July 23, 2013, surrounded by close family. Robert was born in Dayton on May 14, 1924 and lived in the Dayton area most of his life. He was baptized at St. Brigid Catholic Church in Xenia and attended school in Dayton and at the Ohio Soldiers and Sailors Orphanage in Xenia. He was married at St. Mary's Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife of 62 years, Julitta (Bauer) Martz; his parents William and Anna Martz; his son, Timothy Martz; grandson, Baby Graham; sisters, Carolyn and Marolyn; brothers, John and Richard Martz and Emmett Charles. Robert is survived by his children, David (Kathy) Martz, Colorado, Carol (Peter) Graham, Kettering and Teresa (Bill) Wyatt, Kettering; grandchildren, Brian (Sandra) Martz, Mindy Martz (Anthony) Baumer, Mark Graham, Mary Graham, Steven (Anna) Graham, Matthew Graham; and four great-grandchildren, Jasmin, Jadon, & Jenna Martz and Evan Baumer. Also survived by his siblings Eileen Goebel and Carl Martz. A devout Catholic, Robert was a great father, a hard worker and provided well for his family. He was a WWII Navy veteran, stationed on the USS North Carolina. Robert is a retiree of General Motors, having worked as a Model Maker at Delco for many years. He was a member of American Legion Post 598 and VFW Post 9927. A prayer service will be held at 9:15 a.m. on Saturday, July 27, 2013 at Reis Legacy Center Meyer-Boehmer Chapel, 6661 Clyo Rd, Centerville, OH, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at Ascension Catholic Church, 2025 Woodman Dr., Kettering, OH. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Friday, July 26, 2013 from 5 - 7 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave, Dayton, OH 45420. Words of encouragement may be sent to www.reislegacycenter.com
