News Death Notice

WEISS, Jacob R. 86, of Dayton, passed away Sunday, August 4, 2013. He was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan on May 24, 1927 to Jacob Edward & Elsie (Newman) Weiss. Jacob served in the Merchant Marines during WWII and the U.S. Army during the Korean War, retiring with the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 4 from the Ohio National Guard in 1987. He was also a Neighborhood Assistance Officer with the Dayton Police Dept. and life-member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles. Preceded in death by his son, Craig A. Weiss, along with 2 sisters & 1 brother. Survived by the mother of his children, Joan Weiss; daughter, JoyAnn Baldwin; sons & daughter-in-law, David L. & Sheila Weiss, Brian L. Weiss; 8 grandchildren, Kevin (Tonya), Josh, Danny, Patrick, Christian, Molly, Kiersten & Matthew; numerous great grandchildren; brother, Paul Weiss; numerous nieces, nephews & many friends. Special thanks to the nurses & staff at the Dayton V.A. Hospice Unit for their caring services. Funeral service 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, 2013 at the GEORGE C. MARTIN FUNERAL HOME, "Northridge Chapel," 5040 Frederick Pike at Needmore Road. Interment Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Brookville. The family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. Friday at the George C.
