HAYDEN, Sr., Mr. Hubert L. age 88, went home to glory on the morning of January 31, 2014. He was born in Louisville, KY to the late, Emma and Elza Hayden on July 6, 1925, and moved to Dayton at a very early age. He graduated from Dunbar High School and attended Wilberforce University; he is a member of the Dayton Dunbar Basketball Hall of Fame, played Basketball at Wilberforce University, and was Coach of the 1954 Gentile DIAA Champs. He played Baseball for the Desoto Bass Baseball League in 1949; and was a original member of the Dukes Club of Dayton, Ohio. Hubert was a faithful member of Phillips Temple C.M.E Church and formerly a member of the Equity Lodge 121, F&A Masons, Amer Temple 107, achieving the status of Potentate and Deputy of the Dessert, and an active member of the Dayton Dunbar Alumni Association. He was employed at DESC formerly Gentile Air Force Station and retired after 30 years of service. He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted and loving wife of 65 years, Deleyne (Pryor); (4) children, Marsha K. Hayden, Hubert L. Jr., (Alicia) Hayden, Darryl E. (Denise) Hayden, Jeffery L. Hayden (Sheila Whetsel); (6) grandchildren; Shlisa L. Hayden, Darryl E. Hayden II, Hasani L. Hayden, Tiana L. Hayden, Audra L. Perry, Kolicia L. Reeder. One great granddaughter Shara'e L. Rowland, one great great grandson Jaeden Z Reed; (3) great grandchildren, Joshua, Ke'Asia, Samya; special, Aunt Virginia Henderson and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral Service 11:00a.m., Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at Phillips Temple CME Church, 3620 Shiloh Spring Road, Trotwood, Ohio with Rev. James E. Washington, officiating. Family will received friends one hour prior to service. Interment: West Memory Gardens.
