JONES, Albert Emerson former resident of Centerville, died in Fort Wayne, Indiana, on May 23, 2014. Born August 17, 1915, in New Castle, he was the son of the late Albert E. (Pete) and Anna Mary Reese Jones. He married Florence (Floss) Mortimer on March 17, 1939. She preceded him in death on December 9, 1976. Al lived in Centerville, Ohio, for 42 years, moving to Fort Wayne to be near family in 2008. Al was a graduate of New Castle High School in the Class of 1933. He graduated from New Castle Business College and studied accounting at Youngstown College. A long-time employee of NCR Corporation, Al began as a sales representative in 1945 in the Pittsburgh office and later became a territory accounting machine sales manager in New Castle. In 1966, Al transferred to corporate headquarters in Dayton, where he was a sales instructor and later manager of accounting machine sales education. He retired in 1982. Al was a member of the Mahoning Lodge 243 F&AM, New Castle Consistory 32nd Degree, and a member of Antioch Shriners in Dayton. He was a member of Southminster Presbyterian Church and the NCR Country Club. Al will be remembered for his optimism; his sense of humor; and his love of family, old friends and neighbors in New Castle and Centerville, NCR co-workers and golfing buddies, and the residents and staff at Coventry Meadows Assisted Living in Fort Wayne. Survivors include a daughter, Suzanne Echtenkamp of Fort Wayne; a son and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Cindy Jones of Glastonbury, Conn; 6 grandchildren and 9 great- grandchildren scattered throughout New England, the Midwest, New York City, and Dubai. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Harry Jones, and by his long-time friend, Frances Hinnau. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 31, 2014, at Third Presbyterian Church, 1315 E. Washington St., New Castle. Pastor Michael Spicuzza will officiate.
