MENKER, Charles Henry "Charlie" age 80 of Brookville, passed away on Monday, June 2, 2014 at Hospice of Dayton. Charlie retired from the General Motors Inland Manufacturing Division Vandalia Plant where he worked as a Foreman. He was a longtime Clay Township resident and had previously served as a Clay Township Trustee, and as a representative to the City of Clayton and Clay Township Joint Economic Development District. Along with his wife Judith, they had passion for youth and their involvement with horses. Charlie had previously served as the President of the Ohio Quarter Horse Association, and as Tri-Chairman of the All American Quarter Horse Congress. Additionally, he was an Honorary Vice President of the American Quarter Horse Association. Following his retirement from GM, Charlie owned and operated "Rockin M" Trailer Sales. He was proud to have served in the US Army, especially his Tour at Arlington National Cemetery. He had attended the St. Paul Catholic Church in Englewood. Charlie is survived by his loving wife of 55 years: Judith A. (Easton) Menker, daughters and sons-in-law: Brenda & Thomas L. Walker Jr. of Clay Township, Donna Menker-Hughes of Ft. Scott, KS, and Belinda & Ken Vaughan of Ottawa Lake, MI, brothers and sister-in-law: George Menker of Clayton, Jim & Martha Menker of Vandalia, and Robert & Connie Menker of Wilmington, OH, sisters and brothers-in-law: Phyllis & John Garstka of Dayton, JoAnn Colston of Spring, TX, and Marcella & Fred Dye of Springboro, grandchildren: Aubrey (Eric) Hughes, Thomas L. Walker III, Charlie Walker, Hannah Hughes, Cassie, Meagan & Clay Vaughan, great grandchildren: Garrison and Ava, many other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents: Clarence J. & Marcella (Hochwalt) Menker, sister: Rosemary Bachey, and brothers-in-law: Fred Colston and John Bachey. Mass of Christian Burial will be said on Friday, June 6, 2014, 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul Catholic Church (1000 W. Wenger Rd., Englewood) with Father Jim Seibert, C.P.P.S. as celebrant. The family will receive friends on Thursday, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m at the Kindred Funeral Home (400 Union Blvd., Englewood). Interment will be at Arlington Cemetery, Brookville. If desired memorial contributions may be made to the Charles H. & Judith A. Menker Youth Scholarship Fund (400 Union Blvd., Englewood, OH 45322) envelopes will be provided.
