News Death Notice

JOHNSON, Michael L. 73, of Dayton, closed his eyes in sleep Saturday, June 7, 2014 after a prolonged illness. He was a graduate of Paul Laurence Dunbar High School, served in the United States Army during the Vietnam era, and worked as a tool and die maker at General Motors for 35 years. He was a member of Hillcrest Seventh-day Adventist Church, where he served as a deacon. Preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Arzlene Johnson; spouse of forty years, Marlene F. Johnson; beloved uncles, Malcolm Hayes and Gene Lewis; loving aunts, Louise Roseman and Edna Cortner. He is survived by his devoted wife, Donnis Johnson; brothers, Chris (Helen) and Kirk (Lynda) Johnson; children, Chuck (Omelia) Johnson, Juko Martina Holiday (Jerry Erdmann), Jason Johnson, Jeffery (Talana) Johnson, and Charmane Johnson. He also leaves to mourn, his aunts, Shellie Dunman and Jeanne Lewis; uncle, Marshall (Virginia) Hayes; sisters-in-law, Kay Andrews, Pat (Jeff) Jefferson, and Deborah Moore; a host of other family and friends. Funeral service will be held 1 pm Thursday, June 12, 2014 at the House of Wheat Funeral Home, Inc., 2107 N. Gettysburg Ave. Interment Dayton National Cemetery. Visitation 10 am Thursday at the funeral home until time of service. Family will receive friends one hour prior to service. Condolences may be expressed at houseofwheat@woh.rr.com
