News Death Notice

BLOW, Dr. Bernice Henrietta age 76, a native of Dayton, departed this life Friday, June 14, 2014. A graduate of Roosevelt High School, Class of 1956, and attended Miami University. She retired from Wilberforce University, and worked for the PBS Channel with 16 years of service. Minister of music at and a dedicated member of The Potter's House-Dayton International Ministries. She was the Worthy Matron of Lilly of the Valley #18, Past Grand Musician and Past Grand Deputy of Benevolent Grand Chapter Grand Register-O.E.S. Past M.A.M. Rahab Court #27 and Grand Financial Secretary-Perfect Ashler Grand Court-H.O.J. Chief Counselor Ada-Council #3-Lady Knights. Preceded in death by her parents, Miles and Maggie Thomas. She leaves to cherish her memory her loving son, Craig; sister, Ida Spears; nephews and nieces, William, Elzie, Dorothy and Gean Perkins, Debbie Perkins-Duncan; devoted friend, Margaret Austin; a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation from 4-8 pm Monday, June 23, 2014 at the House of Wheat Funeral Home, Inc., 2107 N. Gettysburg Ave. Family will receive friends from 6-8 pm. Eastern Star service held at 7 pm. Funeral service will be held 1 pm Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at The Potter's House-Dayton Int'l Min., 2050 Germantown St. Interment Greencastle Cemetery.
