News Death Notice

EMRICK, Catherine age 96, of Germantown, OH, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, July 3, 2014 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on December 5, 1917, on the family farm on Friend Road, to the late, Mary (Schaeffer) and Orion Smith, Sr. She was a member of St. Johns United Church of Christ. Catherine graduated from Germantown High School ~ Class of 1936. She also graduated from Miami Jacobs School of Business; and worked as a secretary for many years, and served as German Township Clerk for four years. Since retiring in 1983 she loved traveling in their motor home and vacation in Florida in the winter. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Harold E. Emrick (2010); 3 sisters, Nellie (Smith) Harris, Virginia (Smith) Mattox and Louise (Smith) Phelps. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Virginia & Estel McGhee of Germantown; 2 grandchildren, Krista (Dwight) Carter and Robert McGhee; and 7 great-grandchildren ~ her first great-grandson, Alex Klaber always held a special place in her heart; her brother Orion "Junior" (Gerry) Smith, Jr. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 9, 2014, at the Dalton Funeral Home, Corner of State Route 4 & Weaver Rd., Germantown, where the Funeral Service will follow at 12 NOON with Rev. Richard Luh and Rev. Mark Williams officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery, Gratis, OH. Please share condolences at daltonfh.net
