News Death Notice

EHRENSBERGER, Nancy Horner 71, of Washington Twp., passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, July 10, 2014. A life-long resident of the Dayton area, she graduated from Fairmont High School in 1960 and was awarded a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Miami University in 1964 where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority. She taught briefly at Southdale Elementary School (Kettering) before starting a family. Her many hours as a dedicated volunteer in the Centerville City Schools were rewarded when she was honored as a 1989 Citizen of the Year. She was an avid tennis player for many years and an active member of Christ United Methodist Church in Kettering. Preceded in death by her parents Florence and Emerson L. Horner, Jr. and her former husband Frederick C. Ehrensberger. Survived by daughters Lori Ehrensberger of Washington Twp., Jill Ehrensberger (Michael) Thompson and granddaughters Alyssa, Haley, and Taylor Kaufman of Huntley, IL, devoted sister Barbara Horner of Kettering, brother Emerson L. (Peggy) Horner III of Mt. Pleasant, SC, and niece Meagan Horner (David) Howell of Reminderville, OH. Arrangements by Schlientz & Moore Funeral Home; private funeral services and interment at Woodland Cemetery. A memorial service celebrating Nancy's life will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, August 3 at Christ Church, Rev. Barry DeShetler presiding; reception to follow. Contributions may be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network or Christ United Methodist Church.
