CARTER, Mr. Charles "Buddy" age 81, born November 19, 1932 in Dayton, Ohio, retired from this life to celebrate life eternal Monday, July 7, 2014. Charles was a member of Christ Temple Apostolic Faith Church where he served on the deacon board. He retired as a truck driver after many years. He was a Dayton area Baseball Commission Hall of Fame inductee as well as a light heavyweight boxing champion in 1954. A devoted father, loving husband and a pillar of his neighborhood, mentoring and training youth in sports for many years. Waiting for him in glory are his parents, Joshua and Minnie Carter; sister, Lilian Mckeever; brothers, William and James Carter. He leaves behind to celebrate his life his wife of 59 years, Elizabeth Carter; sister, Treva Ann Hummons; son, Mark Kirksey; Goddaughter, Michelle Johnson; grandchildren, Myles Kirksey, Javier Johnson; a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Graveside service will be held 12 noon Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at West Memory Gardens, 6722 Hemple Rd. Arrangements entrusted to the House of Wheat Funeral Home, Inc., 2107 N.
