HAYES, Earnest "Tennessee" the youngest boy of eleven children, was born in Morris Chapel Tennessee to the late Grant & Robbie Hayes. He moved to Dayton in 1950, where he worked at the Turf Club, Thal's, and retired from the City of Dayton Waste Collections in 1982 with thirty years of service and ABS Janitorial part-time for twelve years. He was married to the late Carrie Hayes for forty-two years and to this union was born five children. A member of the Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church, he served as Past President & Vice President of the Ushers; a Deacon; on the Pastor's Aide auxiliary and the Officers, Ministers, Widows and Wives Council and many other areas. When asked why he was always at the church, he would say "I guess I'm just crazy about the church." Preceded in death by his parents, a sister at birth; three brothers (Hertis, Claude, Arnell); five sisters (Lula Mabel, Russeline, Clara, Kaola, & Camilla); granddaughter Victoria Hines; son-in-law Horace Hines; special friend, Laverne Broyles, Sr. He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving and devoted wife of 14 years, Annette; sister, Lucy Brashers; sons Larry (Charlestella) Hayes & Glenn Hayes; daughters Ernestine Hayes, Beverly Jackson, & Vickie (Walter) Byrd; twelve grandchildren Eric (Cricket), Nicole, Donnie, Christa, Chelsea, Chris, Antonio (Kathryn), Jermaine, Julius, Essence, Lamar (Breezn), Glenn Jr. (Valerie); eighteen great- grandchildren; mother-in- law, Annie Cowherd; several brother and sister-in-laws; goddaughter, Wynter Mann, special friend, Willard (Bessie) Shotwell; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and the entire Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church family. The family extends a special thanks to Dayton Physicians (Dr. Koduri, Dr. Bane, Nurses - Barb and Linda), Fidelity Nurse, Mary Koenig, & Hospice of Dayton for the care, patience, love and kindness. Saturday, August 2, 2014 at Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 1900 West 3rd Street, Rev. Dr. Junior F. Greenlee, officiating. Visitation 9:00 A.M. until time of funeral.
