McCLOSKEY, Robert Dodson age 72, of Riverside, passed away Saturday, August 2, 2014 at his home. Born August 28, 1941 in Dayton to the late Joseph & Hassie McCloskey. Robert "Bob" McCloskey was a native Daytonian, who was reared in Old North Dayton, graduated from Kiser High School in 1960, received a Bachelor's Degree in Education from the University of Dayton in 1964, and a Master's Degree in Education from Xavier University in 1970. He was a retired educator, coach, and Licensed Professional Counselor who was employed by the Dayton Public Schools and Tipp City Exempted Village. Bob was a sports enthusiast, who enjoyed golfing, fishing, boating, and being with his family. Bob was a member of the Varsity "D" club in recognition of his lettering in golf all four years at the University of Dayton. Moreover, he played freshman basketball for the University of Dayton in 1960, continued to play basketball for the Falcon club in Dayton, and was the Falcon club MVP in 1964. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Hazel M. McCloskey; his sons, Ronald J. McCloskey and his wife Lisa McCloskey of New Paris, OH, James B. McCloskey and his wife Leslee McCloskey of Leonardtown, MD; his grandchildren, Zach, Joshua, Jacob, Sophie, Emma, Leila, Lauren, Lindsey; and many other relatives & friends. Funeral service 2 PM Friday, August 8, 2014 at Marker & Heller Funeral Home, Huber Heights Chapel, 5844 Old Troy Pike with Pastor Rob Wackerman officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 12 noon until service time. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Montgomery County Animal Shelter in Bob's memory.
