Glen Staton Obituary


News Death Notice

STATON, Glen Earl Age 77, a resident of New Lebanon Harborside Health Care, died Wednesday evening, September 10, 2008 at Hospice of Dayton. Glen was born in Hardy, Kentucky, May 5, 1931 to Freeland and Shirley (Stafford) Staton. In addition to his parents, Glen is preceded in death by his brothers James and Harold Staton and a sister Loretta Staton. He is survived by his son and daughter- in-law John and Teresa Staton of New Lebanon; son Terry Michael Staton of Salem, VA; daughter and son-in-law Melissa and Jeff Satchwell of Wilmington, OH. Glen was blessed with 7 grandchildren which includes grandsons Allen Staton, Duane Summers, Eric Summers, Sam Satchwell; granddaughters Amanda Satchwell, Hannah Satchwell and Krissa Staton and great grandson Noah Summers. Also survived by his brothers Garland Staton of Springboro, OH, Carl Staton of Richmond, KY, Weldon Staton of Hardy, KY and Larry Staton of Columbus, OH; sisters Loucile Stuart of Coco, FL, Magdalene Varney of Milton, WV, Doria Hatfield of Winchester, KY and many more dear nieces, nephews and very dear friends. Glen had worked for and retired from the Norfolk and Western Railroad after 27 years of service. He was proud to have served his county with the U. S. Marine Corps during WW II and was a member of the Free and Accepted Masons of Coco, Florida. Funeral service will be held 11:30 AM, Tuesday at the ROGERS FUNERAL HOME, 234 West Main, New Lebanon, OH with Pastor James Likens presiding. Burial will follow at the Dayton National Cemetery. Friends may wish to call at the funeral home on Monday from 7 - 8:30 PM with Masonic Blue Lodge services starting at 8:30 PM. A very special thank you to the staff, caregivers and friends at Harborside of New Lebanon and also to Hospice of Dayton for the excellent care that Glen was given during the last days of his life.
