Aaron Sampson Obituary


News Death Notice

SAMPSON, Aaron A. Age 66 of Fairborn, passed away Friday November 21, 2008 in the VA Medical Center, Dayton. He was born December 31, 1941 in Jackson, Mississippi, the son of the late Joseph J. and Walter Mae Sampson. Aaron served his country in the U.S. Air Force and followed with employment in civil service, retiring after a combined 36 years of federal service. He served on the Tax Advisory Board; volunteered as a Boy Scout leader and with hospital rehabilitation services. An active member of the Wright- Patterson AFB Chapel 3 community for the past 25 years, he was the president of PMOC and sang in the men's chorus. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph J. Sampson, Jr.; and three sisters, Paretha Mae, Adelaide, and Florestine Sampson. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Leonia; a daughter, Tracy Cano and husband Damien of Sacramento, CA; two sons, Aaron Sampson, Jr. and wife Terri of Atlanta, GA, Tommy Sampson of Fairborn; four granddaughters, Olivia, Sophia, Nora, Evelyn; a brother, Dewey T. Sampson of New Orleans, LA; two sisters, Cathrilla Davis of Fredericksburg, MD, Loretta Sampson of New Orleans, LA; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Sunday November 30, 2008 from 4:00 until 6:00 P.M. in the Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, 422 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd., Fairborn. A funeral service will be held on Monday December 1, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. in the Wright-Patterson AFB Chapel 3, 682 Chapel Lane, WPAFB, Rev. Perry Irby officiating. A viewing will also take place at the chapel from 10:00 until 10:45 A.M. prior to the service. Interment with full military honors will follow in the Dayton National Cemetery. To the Sampson family, I am very sorry to hear of your loss. Tracy and I attended Wright State University together. The last time I saw her was with her beautiful mother at the teacher's resource store here in Dayton. Mrs. Sampson, my prayers are with you and your family. I would like to Thank you for being there for me and my daughter during our time of need. Bless you always.
