RITZERT, John A. age 84, of Centerville, died Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at Kettering Hospital. John was a veteran of World War II serving in the Army Air Corp. He was an engineer with NCR for 35 years, E-Systems in St. Petersburg, FL, for eight years and ECI in Evendale, OH, for seven years. John was a charter member of NCR Country Club and a volunteer at Hospice of Dayton. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Elizabeth; sisters, Rita, Martha and Mary Hope; brother, Raymond. He is survived by his wife, Joan; daughters, Linda & husband, Michael Mayhall of Kiawah Island, SC, Beth Ritzert of Oakwood; sons, Michael & wife, Edith of West Chester, OH, Mark & wife, Mary of Centerville; step-sons, William & wife Susan Fortener of Dayton, Richard Fortener of Kettering, John & wife, Wendy Fortener of Fayetteville, GA, Rob & wife, Jane Fortener of Kettering; grandchildren, Jim, Erin, Grant, Jacob, Elizabeth, Jodi, Ben, Danny, Amy, Sarah, Tricia, Josh, Zachary, Samuel, and Nina; great-grandchildren, Olivia, Hayden, Celia, Essa, Caleb, and Noah. John's life ended suddenly on the 17th green at NCR Country Club, where he was known and loved and in the company of friends. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Family will receive friends Friday, March 27, 2009 from 4:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at the Meyer-Boehmer & Reis Funeral Home, 1733 Brown Street, Dayton. A prayer service will be held at 9:45 a.m. Saturday, March 28th, at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at Ascension Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton.
