STANKOWSKI, Edward Stanley age 80, of Riverside, died peacefully on Friday, December 11, 2009, with his loving family surrounding him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Stella and Stanley Stankowski, step-father, Stanley Tarasow, sister, Irene Lupi and brother, Chester Stankowski. Edward is survived by his wife of 59 years, JoAnn; son, Edward (Joey) and wife, Audrey; daughter, Kathy Leslie Stankowski; 3 sisters, Eleanor Rathbun, of Oregon, Mary Bates and Barbara McIntosh, both of Kettering; 1 brother, Fred Tarasow, of CA; 6 grandchildren, Jessica (Jens) Jurgensen, of NY, Erica Stankowski, of Beavercreek, Brad, of Dayton, Kyle and Brittany, of New Carlisle, Shannon (Chris) Vaughn, of Clarksville, TN, Kelsey Bumbalough, of Fairborn; 5 great grandchildren, Blake Stankowski, of Beavercreek, Cameron Vaughn, Devon Vaughn, of TN, Kendall Miller, of Beavercreek and Spencer Kay Stankowski, of New Carlisle. He loved Thursday Nite Suppers with the whole family for over 30 years and going fishing. He belonged to AARP Chapter 3858 and was very active in the Riverside Seniors and was a Honorary Kentucky Colonel. Edward retired after 39 years of service from General Motors and was a charter member of St. Helen Church. He was a U.S. Armed Forces veteran serving in both the Army and Navy from 1948-1951. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 17, 2009, at St. Helen Catholic Church, 5100 Burkhardt Road, Riverside, OH with Fr. David Brinkmoeller, presiding. Interment will follow in Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME-BEAVERCREEK CHAPEL, 3970 Dayton-Xenia Road at Grange Hall Road from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday, December 16, 2009.
