SANDERS, Sandra Lee was born in Dayton, Ohio and departed this life January 12, 2010 following an extended illness. She went to Roosevelt High School as a freshman and sophomore, but transferred to Paul Laurence Dunbar and graduated with the class of 1965. She attended Sinclair Community College, trained as a Courtroom Stenographer, and also earned a Certificate of Medical Terminology from Good Samaritan School of Continuing Education. Sandra was previously employed by Miami Valley Hospital, Good Samaritan Hospital, Ohio Bureau of Unemployment, and also worked in retail. She was very active with various neighborhood block club projects and community initiatives including: Opportunities Industrialization Center (OIC) and the Mallory Park Coalition. As a member of Gard Avenue Church of Christ, Sandra taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She once wrote that her favorite things included sewing, crafts, cooking, writing poetry, walking in the woods to enjoy nature, fishing, conversation, interesting work, family, sons, friends, God's grace, being baptized, growing old gracefully, learning from mistakes and profiting by them. Sandra was preceded in death by her parents, William and Maxine Wade; son, Lauren Sanders; and sister, Vicki Fuller. She leaves to cherish her memories; sons, Tyree Fields of Dayton, OH, Christopher Sanders of Harveysburg, OH; brothers, Dr. William Wade of Newark, NJ; Sturgis (Jackie) of Orangevale, CA; sisters, Susan (Reginald) Hoskin of Savannah, GA; Cindy Dixon of Farmersville, OH; Marsha (Oscar) York of Farmersville, OH; Lorna Cole of Dayton, OH; Tonya (Brian) Albert of Springfield, VA; grandchildren; Lauren Ann-Nicole Fields of Nashville, TN; Conner Jack Fields of Philadelphia, PA; special friend, Clarence Fuller of Middletown, OH; many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Funeral Services: January 16, 2010, 11 a.m. at Gard Avenue Church of Christ, 1004 Gard Avenue, Dayton, OH. Mr. Oscar York, officiating. Public Viewing: 9 a.m. until time of service. Family will receive friends 1 hr. prior to 11 a.m. service. Interment: Green Castle Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Bowman Funeral Chapel.
