News Death Notice

STERZER, Walter George age 94, passed away July 28, 2011 at Hospice of Dayton. He was preceded in death by his parents Walter and Elenora Sterzer and his loving wife of 63 years Doris E. Sterzer. He is survived by brother Earl E. Sterzer (Dayton), Cousin Jean Probst (Kettering), son Michael J. Sterzer of Tinely Park, Illinois, nieces Susan Sterzer (West Carrolton), Sarah Stickelman (Kettering) and Sally Sterzer (Centerville). In addition Walter is survived by numerous great and great great nieces and nephews. Walter was born in Dayton, Ohio. He was a World War II veteran, having served in the Pacific theater. His professional career was as a mechanical engineer with NCR in Dayton and Millsboro, Delaware. He rose to management positions and his department was responsible for many product innovations. Walter and his department established a number of patents for NCR. Walter was an avid amateur photographer whose many high quality photos are a special legacy his family will be able to enjoy for years to come. He enjoyed each day and was seldom seen without a smile on his face. Recently he related to his family that he had had a very pleasurable life. The family would like to thank the physicians, nursing staff and assistants of both Kettering Medical Center and Hospice of Dayton for their compassionate care of Walter during his time with them. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton.
