MITCHELL, Kenneth age 86, died at Walnut Creek Nursing Center on August 27, Ken was born in Oakland and raised in Woodland, California. After graduating from high school he joined the U.S. Coast Guard on the first anniversary of Pearl Harbor, December 7, 1942. He served as a signalman until 1946 being honorably discharged. After a year at the University of California at Berkeley, he moved to Des Moines, Iowa where he worked for the Sidles Co. Auto Parts store as a counterman and began his career in the automotive aftermarket business. In 1956 he joined AP Parts of Toledo, Ohio as a salesman. His territories consisted of Oklahoma, Arkansas & Kansas. Promoted to Territory and National Sales Manager, he moved to Toledo in 1966 to become V.P. of Sales for AP Parts. In 1972 he joined Dayton Corp. of Dayton, Ohio as V.P. of Sales & Marketing before retiring in 1978 to form his own consulting firm in the automotive aftermarket. A longtime member of Sycamore Creek Country Club, he was an avid golfer, deeply devoted to his family and Country. All of us will remember Ken with a Chivas in hand, his keen insights, wisdom and warmth for many years. He will be missed. Survivors included his wife of 57 years, Margaret Eggerss Mitchell of Dayton; and their children Kathy (Tom) Haynes of Roswell, GA; Kris Mitchell of Dayton, and Don (Grace) Mitchell of Arlington, VA; grandchildren: Laura, Meghan, Ben and Sara Haynes; Logan & Ella Mitchell. A brother in law Karl (Sharleen) Eggerss, niece Jennifer (Eggerss) Nicholos of CA; sister in law Nina (Don) Burroughs; nephews Kurt & Karl Eggerss; niece Julie (Eggerss) Garcia of Texas and many dear friends. A private burial will be at Woodland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please send a donation in Kens memory .To: Ray & Joan Kroc Corps Community Center, 1000 N. Keowee St., Dayton, Ohio 45404-1520.
