News Death Notice

EVANS, Jack E. age 79, of Germantown, OH, passed away, Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at Kettering Medical Center. Jack was born November 9, 1932, in Dayton, OH, to the late Clarence E. and LoDema F. (Shank) Evans. He graduated from Germantown High School ~ Class of 1951. He served 4 years in the U. S. Navy on the U.S.S. Jason during the Korean Conflict. He received his Bachelor of Arts & Masters Degree from the University of Dayton. He taught Science and Drivers Education, and coached basketball ~ retiring from the Valley View School System in 1986, after 30 years of service. He was a Germantown Cardinal athlete and avid Spartan fan ~ his love of sports, coaching and Germantown spanned his lifetime. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Clarence D. (Dydus) Shank and his paternal grandparents, Arthur (Mabel) Evans. He is survived by his loving family, 2 sisters, Carol (Melvin) Stoutenborough and Joyce (James) Ellison; his nieces and nephews, Susan (Stoutenborough) Guffey, and her family, Brian & Kyle Guffey, Terry (Jill) Stoutenborough and their family Tyler & Leah Stoutenborough, Jill (Steve) Dickson and their family, Andrew, Abby & Adam Dickson, Michael (Taryn) Baker and their family, Taylor Gentit, Josh & Kylie Baker, Elizabeth Ellison (John) Parmley and their family Zach & Tori Parmley, Matthew (Nicole) Baker and their family, John & Grace Baker; and many special Cardinal Roost friends. Friends may call 2-6 p.m., Sunday, March 11, 2012, at the Dalton Funeral Home, Corner of State Route 4 & Weaver Rd., Germantown, where the Funeral Service will be held 10 a.m., Monday with Pastor Gary Wheeler officiating. Burial will be at Germantown Union Cemetery. If desired memorial contributions may be made to the Germantown United Methodist Church Organ Fund.
