STRATTON, Esther Gertrude (Bonesteel) Beloved wife of 63 years to the late Percy James Stratton, loving mother of Becky (John) Alge of Springboro, Donna (John) Stover of Northwood, and James (Carolyn) Stratton of Mt. View, CA., and devoted grandmother to Chris (Jen) Alge of Maineville, Stephanie (Jon) Franks of Springboro, Brian Alge of Lakewood, Julie (Zack) Rieseck of Berea, Jeff (Sarah) Stover of Shaker Heights, Margaret Stratton and Anne Marie Stratton of Mt. View, CA, and loving Great-grandmother to Harper & Hadley Franks and Jack Alge passed away April 24, 2012 at the age of 85 due to dementia. Esther was born on May 8, 1926 in Troy, New York, to the late Arlie and Helen Margaret (Wilford) Bonesteel. She was preceded in death by her sister, Alice (David) Lehman of Cleona, Pennsylvania and has a sister, Agnes (Bob) Whitesell of Concord, North Carolina. Esther graduated from Troy High School in 1944, and Hougton College in 1948 with a science degree. She met Percy Stratton at Houghton College and they were married August 20, 1948 in Pawling Avenue United Methodist Church, Troy, New York. She was the wife of a United Methodist minister for 45.5 years living in Edenburgh, VA 1948-1949;Senecaville, OH 1949-1951; Rootstown, OH 1951-1958; Bethel 1958-1967; Enon, OH 1967-1976; Forest Park, Lima, OH 1976-1984; Sulphur Grove, Huber Heights, OH 1984-1992. She loved to travel in and outside the United States, was a nursery school teacher, gracious host, a talented seamstress, pianist, talented cook and was the best homemade pie maker. She will be greatly missed by her friends and family. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.trostelchapman.com. A private service will be held May 5th for family members only, the Rev. Barbara Schnecker officiating. Burial will be in Enon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donation be made to Premier Community Health- Diabetes, 23 Jasper Street, Dayton, OH 45409.
