George MESCHER Obituary


News Death Notice

MESCHER, George E. age 95 of Dayton, died Saturday May 26, 2012 in the home he built. He was born on January 7, 1917 to the late William and Anna (Overman) Mescher. George was preceded in death by his loving wife of 58 years, Martha (Fortkamp) Mescher and son-in-law Charles Kimble. He is survived by 8 daughters, Marilyn (Michael) Haufe of Columbus, Margaret (Jeff) Thompson, Martha Kimble, Janet (Ed) Marrinan, Phyllis (Brian) Hewitt, Elizabeth (Herb) Schwendeman, Lois Mescher, Angela (Micheal) Downing all of Dayton; 1 son George (Brigitte) Mescher of Colorado; grandchildren Will and Thomas Haufe, Jeremy and Tina Thompson, Emily, Lauren, Dan and Andrew Kimble, Heidi (Matt) Morrow and Leah (Justin) Jenkins, Ellen (Ben) Snodgrass, Megan, Eddie, Kevin and Elise Marrinan, Elizabeth and Philip Hewitt, Matthew (Jamie), Corie, Anna (Matt) McCann, and Joey Schwendeman, Chris (Leslie), Eric, Colin and Sam Downing; 7 great grandchildren; 2 sisters and 3 brothers. George served in the Army Air Corps during WWII and was a recipient of the Bronze Star. George was a charter member of Precious Blood Church and was an active member of the Parish community. He retired from Delco Products after 33 years. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM Thursday May 31, 2012 at Precious Blood Catholic Church, 4961 Salem Avenue, Dayton, OH 45416. Reverend William O'Donnell will officiate. The family will receive friends 5-8 PM Wednesday May 30, 2012 and 1 hour prior to Mass at Precious Blood Catholic Church. Interment Miami Memorial Park Cemetery, Covington, OH. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in George's memory to Precious Blood Catholic Church. Dear Martha and Extended Family, My condolences on the passing of your Dad, Grandpa and Great-Grandpa. I remember him from the Julienne H.S. Father-Daughter dances from 1965-1968.
