After an idyllic childhood in Brooklyn, punctuated by summers traveling through the South with his salesman father, Frank graduated from Erasmus Hall High School. He later enrolled at the Ohio State University, receiving his undergraduate and law degrees in five and one-half years. While at Ohio State, Frank met his beloved wife Peggy. They married in 1950 and settled in Dayton. Frank entered the private practice of law in Dayton at Pickrel, Schaeffer and Ebeling, and began a long career in business law and litigation. Frank was a "lawyer's lawyer" and was thoroughly devoted to his profession and clients. He loved Dayton and was active in the community's life, serving in numerous leadership positions at Trinity Lutheran Church and Christ the King Lutheran Church, Dayton YMCA Camp Kern, Lutheran Social Services, the Exchange Club and the Rotary Club. Above all, Frank was a family man. He was predeceased by his parents and wife of 51 years, Peggy. He is survived by his three children David Root (Bobbie Wrenn Banks) of Atlanta, Georgia; Jane Root (Dr. Chris Kus) of Saratoga Springs, New York and Amy DiMario (Paul DiMario) of Cincinnati, Ohio; his six grandchildren Paul Root (Nina Root) of Indianapolis, Indiana, Betsy Root (Dr. Andrew Godfrey-Kittle) of Atlanta, Georgia, Samantha, Katie and Tony DiMario of Cincinnati, Ohio and Lindsey Root Kus of Saratoga Springs, New York; and his companion of 10 years, Wanda Smith of Naples, Florida.
