News Death Notice

SUMMERS, Emmett Keith age 67 of New Carlisle, OH, passed away Friday, September 7, 2012, after a heroic battle with cancer. Born October 9, 1944, in Springfield, OH; Emmett was a Greenon High School graduate and a member of Abiding Christ Lutheran Church. He served his country in the Ohio Air National Guard and retired with over 40 years of service as a Chief Master Sergeant. He also served as a volunteer firefighter for Harmony Township Fire Department. He had a life long love for anything with a motor. He loved cars, motorcyles and very recently was thrilled to drive an ATV and bobcat. He most recently worked at his nephews' business, Fire and Marine, Inc. where he operated a metal press and helped out where ever there was a need. He is survived by his wife Donna Reittinger Summers, to whom he was married for 41 years. Also surviving are his two daughters, Eryn (Brian) Best of Tampa, FL and Amber (Belden Gaines) Summers of Walton, KY; three granddaughters, Isabelle and Francesca Best and Chloe Johnson; his brother Arthur and his mother Arminda. Emmett is also loved and survived by his in-laws, Ann Reittinger, Susan & Jerry, James & Cathy, Jeannie & John, Linda & Tom, Peggy & John, Cindy & Jack and Beth & Gary, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father Sturgil and father in-law William. Emmett was a loving husband and father and was well loved and respected by everyone who knew him. The family will receive friends (Today) Monday, September 10th from 5:00-7:00 PM in the Abiding Christ Lutheran Church, 326 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd., Fairborn, where a funeral service will be held on Tuesday September 11th at 1:30 P.M., Pastors Craig Fourman and Sue Nelson officiating. Interment will follow in the Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the or Abiding Christ Lutheran Church.
