Glenn GREENWOOD Obituary

News Death Notice

GREENWOOD, Glenn D. age 65, of Dayton, OH passed away Friday November 23, 2012 as a result of a head injury caused by a fall. Born May 10, 1947, he is the second son of Betty Greenwood and of the late Lloyd "Greenie" Greenwood. He is survived by his mother Betty Greenwood and by his daughter Jackie Greenwood; niece & nephews Gina Greenwood, Todd Greenwood, Joseph Greenwood, and Forest Greenwood Govedare. He is also survived by his cousins, Carolyn Terrill; Dr. CheeChee Rose and Buddy Rose both pastors. In his twenties, he left Dayton with a health-spa business opportunity in Canada, his life savings of $22,000, and all he had learned from Napoleon Hill's book "Think and Grow Rich." His skills were immediately tested as he managed the spas & sold memberships by day then cleaned the clubs at night. At times, he slept on the exercise benches and never went home. By the third month, he had three spas running in the black. He walked around with holes in his shoes for awhile, but before long, his most impressive achievements provided him the success he envisioned. Following his hard-working health spa years, Glenn returned to Dayton to enjoy the benefits of his success with his friends and family. Glenn loved Texas Hold 'Em and politics. A Ronald Regan conservative, he devoured all he could learn about politics and loved spirited but respectful debates. And he loved and respected the military and studied the role the military had played in shaping the history of the world. He was tough to beat at Jeopardy because he read so much and remembered so much, plus had such a naturally strong intelligence that he could figure out what he didn't know! The family would like to extend a special "thank you" to his two special friends Kathy Scarlett and Ed Dillon and also to all his friends and second family at the Miamisburg Moose. "My dear Glenn, my precious baby . . . how many times a day will I miss you? How many times will I reach for the phone to call you only to realize that you've gone on? I'm proud of you for not only making a financial success of yourself all on your own, but also for all the kindnesses we're hearing about that you so humbly kept to yourself. I'll see you in Heaven my darling son." Visitation is Friday November 30, 2012 from 5pm to 7pm with a Memorial Service starting at 7pm at the Newcomer Funeral Home * 3940 Kettering Boulevard * Kettering, OH 45432 * (937) 293-4141. Pastor Buddy Rose is officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Active Angels Ministries in Glenn's memory on their website at http://activeangels.vpweb.com. November 28, 2012

Betty, So sorry to hear the sad news. Glemn was a sweetheart. I enjoyed playing cards with him and enjoyed talking with him. So glad I got to talk to him when we were all at the moose. He will be missed. We can enjoy all the memories. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. Donna Young

May you be comforted that you will be together again one day.

I stood watching as the little ship sailed out to sea. The setting sun tinted his white sails with a golden light, and as he disappeared from sight a voice at my side whispered, “He is gone.”
But the sea was a narrow one. On the farther shore a little band of friends had gathered to watch and wait in happy expectation. Suddenly they caught sight of the tiny sail and, at the very moment when my companion had whispered, “He is gone” a glad shout went up in joyous welcome, “Here he comes!”
