News Death Notice
RUNYON, Myrtle Perry was born in Lima, Ohio to Katherlene and Henry Perry. She departed this life on December 19, 2012. She spent her early years in Indianapolis, Indiana and was a lifelong member of the AME Church. She was a graduate of Butler University with a BS Degree in Chemistry. Upon graduation from college she entered Indianapolis General Hospital School of Nursing. She worked as a registered nurse in Indianapolis and in Michigan. While living in Michigan she decided to further her education and she received a Masters Degree in Counseling and Education at Michigan State University. Myrtle moved to Dayton Ohio to be closer to her sister Daisy. Upon moving to Dayton she joined Wayman Chapel AME Church and was very active in many organizations including the Lay Organization and the Usher Board. She taught High School Chemistry for a period of time and she retired as a High School Guidance Counselor. In addition to her church activity she was a charter member of the West Dayton Caravan and actively involved in scholarship programs for youth. Myrtle was a Golden Life member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated. Myrtle enjoyed traveling, fishing and spending time with her daughter Terri. She will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, L. James Perry and William M. Perry. She leaves to cherish her memory her beloved daughter, Terri (Greg) Walker; grandsons, Brandon and Dominic, her sister, Daisy Perry Torrence and a host of relatives and friends. Funeral service will be held 11AM, Thursday, December 27, 2012 at Wayman Chapel AME Church, 3317 Hoover Ave. with Rev. Dr. Ronald Glenn officiating. Visitation 10-11AM. Delta Sigma Theta Inc.
