LEE, Gerene Presley Funeral Services for Gerene Presley Lee, Age 93, of Cookeville, Tennessee, will be conducted on Wednesday, March 27, 2013, at 1:00 PM from the Chapel of Goff Funeral Home in Monterey, Tennessee. Services will be conducted by Reverend Drew Shelley of the First United Methodist Church of Cookeville, Tennessee. Mrs. Lee was born in Bloomington Springs, Tennessee, on March 4, 1920, to the late Ewin and Ann Stone Presley. Mrs. Lee passed away on Sunday, March 24, 2013, at the NHC Healthcare in Cookeville, Tennessee. Her family was early pioneers of the Upper Cumberland Region, many of which were instrumental in establishing the Stone Association of Baptist Churches. She was raised and attended school in Monterey, Tennessee. She and her husband moved to Dayton, Ohio, in 1940 residing on Air and Leo Streets. In addition to being a wife and a mother to her four sons, she was formerly employed at Kirks Variety Store in Dayton, Ohio. She and her husband also owned and operated Lee Service and Grocery on Rip Rap Road. She later was employed at Rikes' Department Store, where she retired after twenty-five years of service. She was enthusiastically committed to the Maryland Avenue Church of the Nazarene. For nearly seventy years, she was a dedicated member serving on the church board and actively participating in its many ministries. She is survived by three of her four sons: Dr. Fred Lee of Parkersburg, West Virginia, David R. Lee and wife, Bonnie of Columbus, Ohio, John Winfield Lee and wife, Heidi of Cookeville, Tennessee; daughter-in-law, Marleen Lee of Knoxville, Tennessee; brother, Paul Presley of Carthage, Tennessee; numerous nephews, nieces, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Cordell Pascal Lee; son, Richard (Dick) Lee formerly of Knoxville, Tennessee; four brothers, Olin, Truman, Donald, and Bill Presley. Interment will be conducted immediately following the service in the Bethlehem Methodist Church Cemetery in Livingston, Tennessee. In lieu of flowers, The Lee Family has respectively requested memorials be made to the Esther Lee Welch Elementary Education Scholarship Endowment, Tennessee Technological University Scholarship Office, PO Box 5166, Cookeville, TN 38505-0001. The family will receive friends at Goff Funeral Home On Wednesday, March 27, 2013, from 11:00 AM until time of services at 1:00 PM.
