GARRITY, Joseph E. "Mickey" Age 79, died at his winter home in The Villages, Florida on Wednesday April 24, 2013. His summer residence in the Dayton area is located in Washington Township. Mickey was born in Springfield Ohio on March 17, 1934. He was a 1951 graduate of Catholic Central High School of Springfield and a 1959 graduate of the Ohio State University. Mickey spent his working life in heavy industrial manufacturing since graduating from the Ohio State University in 1959 with a degree in Industrial Management. He previously worked in upper level management for the former General Motors Delco-Moraine Division in Dayton, Ohio and later went on to change industries, working in top level positions for a series of foundries that include the former Kuhn's Brothers Foundry of Dayton, Ohio; The former Ductile Iron Company of America in Savannah, Georgia; the Roscommon Group that owned foundries in Dayton, Ohio and Richmond, Indiana and he recently retired as president and owner of the Richmond Casting Foundry Company of Richmond, Indiana, selling the company to his plant manager. He was also a past senior level board member of the American Foundry Society. Mickey was a veteran of the US Army, having served in The First Calvary Division stationed in Japan in the mid-1950s. Since moving to The Villages in 2007, he and Sandra joined many clubs found there and taking part in the wide variety of activities present in the community that include the Villages Convertible Club, The Ohio State Buckeyes Club and others. He was a past member of the Walnut Grove Country Club of Dayton and a current member of The FourSeasons Yacht Club of Cincinnati. Mickey is survived by his wife of 56 years, Sandra Ann, his son Michael of The Villages and Dayton, Ohio; his daughter Diane Garrity; brother John Garrity of New Carlisle, Ohio; sister Ann Reed of Cincinnati, Ohio and sister Eileen O'Brien of Xenia, Ohio. There will be a private Celebration of Life ceremony held at the Hiers-Baxley Funeral Home in The Villages, Florida on Thursday, May 16 and a second celebration to take place later this summer at a time, date and location to be determined. Among Mickey's favorite things in life included spending time with his family at their family lake house at Indian Lake, Ohio, boating, playing golf, traveling and fine dining.
