Mrs. Jean Abrams, 91, passed from this life to heaven's glory on Jan. 21, 2008, at Glenwood Rehabilitation and Convalescent Center. Wonderful memories of her remain in the hearts of both her family and the numerous friends who considered her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd S. and Madge Wilson Key; her husband, Lofton L. Abrams; and twin brother, James Key.
Mrs. Jean faithfully served as a Sunday school teacher, former pianist, mentor, encourager and church member at the First Baptist Church in Town Creek. She was retired from LawrenceColbert Counties Gas District, where she was employed for 27 years. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star No. 249 of Town Creek, where she served as secretary for more than 45 years. The widow of our former Hazelwood principal, Lofton L. Abrams, Mrs. Abrams was dearly loved by students and parents alike.
She is survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and a large number of friends.
Funeral will be today, Jan. 24, 2008, at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Town Creek with Bro. Tommy Akin officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Howard "Sonny" Abrams Jr., Billy Booth, Coy Kerby, Sam Key, Roger Mayfield and Roy Loosier.
Her family would like to express special thanks to the doctors and staff at Glenwood and to Helen Tidwell for their loving care.
