Memorial services for Roy Jackson Higginbotham, 71, of Decatur will be held Monday, May 5, 2014, at 2 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Gary Heathcock officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Jack Higginbotham passed away on May 1, 2014. He was born November 28, 1942. He graduated from Decatur High School in 1961 and Birmingham Southern College in 1965 where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity. His lifetime career was in construction and sales. Jack was a member of the Decatur Jaycees and a lifetime member of Ninth Street Methodist Church.

Roy Jackson Higginbotham was preceded in death by his parents, Ira Jackson and Pauline Rich Higginbotham. He is survived by one brother, Joseph Michael Higginbotham (Joan) of Memphis, Tennessee; and one sister, Cindy Higginbotham Mullins (Mark) of Auckland, New Zealand; two daughters, Stacey Higginbotham Peebles (Darrow) and Hilton Higginbotham Treloar (Mark) of Decatur; three grandchildren, Taylor Peebles, Rowe Peebles and Ross Treloar; one nephew, Jay Higginbotham of Atlanta; and two nieces, Megumi Mullins of Decatur and Sarah Mullins Thompson (Derek) of Tuscaloosa.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff at River City Care and Rehab, Decatur Morgan Hospital, Dr. Lyn Naylor for their faithful care and service during his illness and also to Ralph Rich a special uncle and friend for his constant concern and help.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial donations be made to Neighborhood Christian Center or Tennessee Valley Outreach.
