W. K. 'Windy' Young

W. K. "Windy" Young passed away February 12, 2013, at the North Carolina State Veterans Home in Salisbury, North Carolina.

Windy was born in Jackson County, Alabama on January 16, 1918, to George and Cora Young. He had five brothers and one sister. "Papa" served in the 553rd Army Air Forces during World War II. The owner of Bama Typewriter Company, Windy was known and respected by many in Decatur. Papa was a member of Central Baptist Church and an active 50 year member of the Masons.

Windy was married to Mildred Williams Whitehead and they had one son, Douglas, and two step-sons, Robert and David.

Windy is survived by one brother, several nieces, nephews and a stepson.

A memorial service is scheduled for February 18, 2013, 10 a.m., in the Roselawn Funeral Home Chapel.
