Funeral for Bobbie Ray Gillespie, 65, of Moulton will be Saturday, April 28, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Parkway Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Terry Gillespie and Bro. Marvin Gillespie officiating. Burial will be in East Lawrence Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.
Mr. Gillespie, who died Tuesday, April 24, 2012, was born November 13, 1946, in Moulton to Dee W. and Mary Terry Gillespie. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a retired chemical engineer. Mr. Gillespie was a member of the American Legion Post No. 25 and Cullman Archeological Society. He was past Blue Clan Chief and Councilman of the Echota Cherokee Tribe and an Environmental Activist for the Bankhead National Forest. Most of all, he was a beloved friend and mentor to all who loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Helen Hagood.
Survivors include his best friend and loving companion, Betty Ann Morris; two sons, JonDerix Maurice Gillespie (April) and Erik Dee Jason Gillespie (April); one daughter, Tiffany MaryElla Brannon (Mark); one brother, Fred R. Gillespie (Velma); and three grandchildren, Tori, Mallory and Lily.
Pallbearers will be Josh Cook, John McGregor, Steve Mitchell, Stanley Gillespie, Richard Jenkins, Alex Weeks and Keith Weeks.
Honorary pallbearers will be Greg Preston, Faron Weeks and all nephews, cousins and friends.
