Lillian Lucille White Clardy, age 88, of Huntsville, peacefully passed away December 4, 2013, surrounded by her children. She was the daughter of Henry and Lerah Thrower White. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Sgt. Major Grover Duncan Clardy; her parents; and brothers, Robert and Neal White.
She is survived by her son, Michael Clardy (Faith) of Hartselle; daughters, Patt Clardy Varnado (Clint) of Huntsville and Jill Clardy Rice (Charles) of Harvest; 13 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren (another due March 2014). She is also survived by sisters, Edna White McKown and Melba White Hutto; and brother, Bill White; several nieces; nephews; great nieces; and great nephews.
Lucille was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister and aunt. Her life has been an inspiration, not only to her family and friends, but also to many through her long career as a Preschool Teacher and involvement in the Children's Program at University Baptist Church.
The family would like to express their appreciation to those who have been a part of supporting us during our mother's long suffering: Trinity United Methodist Church Eldercare (Huntsville), Dr. Lynn Boyer and Hospice of the Valley (Morgan County).
Visitation will be Sunday, December 8, 2013, from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Berryhill Funeral Home followed by Chapel services at 2:30 p.m. with the Rev. Bobby Burt officiating. Burial will be at Faith Memorial Park Cemetery in Madison.
Lucille's pallbearers are grandsons, Jeremy Clardy, Jason Varnado, Charles D. Rice, Jacob Rice and grandson-in-laws, Wade Edwards and Christopher Miller.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Trinity United Methodist Church Eldercare program, University Baptist Church Child Development Center, Hospice of the Valley (Morgan County) or any Alzheimer's organization.
