Memorial service for Tommy Gene Thompson, 56, of Hartselle will be Thursday, April 19, 2012, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Calvary Assembly of God in Decatur. The visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time.
Mr. Thompson was born Thursday, January 19, 1956, in El Paso, Texas, to Ray and Edna Kyle Thompson. He lived in Guam, Hawaii, Nebraska, South Dakota and Hartselle. He worked as a Behavioral Health Specialist and was a Registered Nurse, who worked for Amedisys Home Health. He was a psychiatric nurse who loved his patients. He loved to help others who could not help themselves. His favorite job was working for Jesus. Tommy loved growing flowers, plants and trees, which he learned from his father, Ray. He died at Huntsville Hospital on April 14, 2012, from a sudden illness and now resides with Jesus.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy Thompson; one daughter, Lacey Kepner, Smithville, Ohio; one stepson, Alex Knotts, Abilene, Texas; one stepdaughter, Tiffani Knotts, Decatur; mother, Edna (Kyle) Thompson, Hartselle; one brother, Raymond Thompson, Nashville, Tenn.; one sister, Valerie Stephenson, Hartselle; four grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
