Virginia Eleanor Montgomery Smith
Virginia Eleanor Montgomery Smith passed away in Birmingham on April 28, 2013 at the age of 83.
Mrs. Smith is preceded in death by her parents, Charles Bryce Montgomery and Pearl Fendley Montgomery; her husband, Hulet Mangum Smith Jr.; and sister, Ruthe Montgomery Ryne.
She is lovingly remembered by her two daughters, Kathryn Ann Smith and Susan Smith Armbrester (Roland); one son, Hulet M. Smith III (Kelly); her sister, Joan Montgomery Davis; and six grandchildren, Andrew Smith, Lindsay Smith Hale (Chase), Gabe Smith, Tyler Yarbrough, Danielle Armbrester, Jami Armbrester; and many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Smith was born in Tuscaloosa on February 25, 1930. Hulet and Virginia both graduated from Tuscaloosa High School and resided in Tuscaloosa until 1969 when they moved to Decatur. She enjoyed gardening, baking apple pies (a must at all family functions), and spending time with her family. She was a devoted and supportive wife, mother, sister, and grandmother. Virginia delighted in providing love and guidance to her family and always had a kind ear to lend in a loved one's time of need. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
A graveside service will be today, April 30, 2013, at 4 p.m. at Tuscaloosa Memorial Park, 5434 Old Birmingham Highway, Tuscaloosa, AL 35404 with Barry Thompson officiating and vocals by Alethea Ivey.
