Otis Elwyn Kennemer


Mr. Otis Elwyn Kennemer, 82, of Athens died Thursday at his residence. Visitation will be Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home, Athens. Services will follow at 3 p.m. in the chapel. Burial will be in Athens Memory Gardens with Military Honors, Jerry Barksdale and Bud White officiating.

Mr. Kennemer was born December 31, 1931, in Limestone County. He was a member of Northside Church of Christ, retired from NASA and a Korean Conflict Army veteran where he was a POW for 33 months. Family would like to thank Tim Smith and Annette Legg for their care.

Survivors include his daughters, Anita Bowers, Nolensville, TN, Janet Greene, Decatur, Jean Laxson, Athens; stepson, David Jackson, Pulaski, TN; step-daughter, Debbie Davis, Athens; grandchildren, Stefan Bowers, Juliana Bowers, Lindsey Gable, Lance Greene, Jordan Laxson, Jared Laxson; stepgrandchildren, Jake Jackson, Ben Jackson, Luke Jackson, Will Priest, Layla Davis; great-granddaughter, Kyleigh Beth Gable; brothers, George Kennemer, Anderson, Thomas V. Kennemer, Huntsville, Alvin W. Kennemer, Athens; sisters, Jo Lemay, Anderson, Jean Jaynes, Lexington; several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be John Laxson, Jordan Laxson, Jared Laxson, Lance Greene, Jeremy Gable and Tim Smith. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Limestone County.
